This policy explains what personal information The Ghana Gold (“we”, “us”) collects through theghanagold.com, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are

The Ghana Gold is based in Accra, Ghana. Contact: hello@theghanagold.com.

What we collect

  • Information you send us: when you email us or use a form, we receive what you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, company and message. Messages sent through our website form are stored in our website’s admin area, which only our editorial and sales team can open, and are emailed to our team.
  • WhatsApp: if you contact us on WhatsApp, we receive your phone number, profile name and the messages you send. WhatsApp is run by Meta, and its own terms and privacy policy also apply.
  • Newsletter and waitlist: if you subscribe, we keep your email address and subscription preferences.
  • Magazine reservations: if you reserve a copy of The Ghana Gold Review, we keep the name, phone number and (if you give it) organisation you enter, the page you reserved from and the time you agreed to be contacted. Reservations are stored in our website’s admin area, which only our editorial and sales team can open, and each new reservation is emailed to our team.
  • Technical data: like most websites, our hosting and security systems process IP addresses, browser type and pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
  • Cookies and analytics: we use essential cookies needed to run and secure the site, for example to remember your display settings. We also use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages readers use, so we can improve our reporting. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked first: analytics cookies are off by default for them and are only set if they choose “Allow” on our consent bar. Elsewhere, analytics runs by default. We do not use advertising cookies and do not sell data to advertisers.

How we use it

  • To reply to you and handle your request.
  • To send the newsletter or magazine updates you asked for.
  • To contact you about your magazine reservation and the delivery of your copy.
  • To keep the website secure and working.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used and improve it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the site, such as our web host, email newsletter provider, security and analytics tools. They process data on our behalf. We may also disclose information where required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to 24 months unless an ongoing relationship requires longer. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Magazine reservations are kept until your copy has been delivered and for up to 24 months after that, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in each email.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Clearing this site’s data also resets your choice on our consent bar.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with Google’s browser opt-out add-on.
  • Ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing hello@theghanagold.com.

We handle personal information in line with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and, where they apply, other data protection laws such as those of the United Arab Emirates and the European Union.
