The Ghana Gold covers a regulated industry where inaccurate information can cost readers money. These standards explain how we decide what to publish and how we make sure it is accurate.
Accuracy and sourcing
- We prefer primary sources: legislation, regulations, official notices, regulator statements, company filings and official statistics.
- Where we rely on media reports, we name and link them, and we say when a story rests on a single source.
- Every article ends with a list of its sources.
- We do not invent quotations, figures, licence details, legal provisions or dates.
Regulatory content
- Regulatory articles state the date of the rule, its legal basis where known, and who it applies to.
- We distinguish law in force from proposals, announcements and guidance.
- Regulatory explainers are reviewed periodically and marked when they are updated or superseded.
Dates and updates
Every article shows its publication date and when it was last updated. Material changes are noted in the article.
Facts, analysis and opinion
News reports set out facts and attribute claims. Analysis is labelled as analysis. Opinion columns from contributors are labelled as Expert Voices and reflect the author’s view.
Fairness
When we report criticism of a person or organisation, we include their response where available, or say that none was given.
Independence and paid content
- Advertisers and sponsors do not decide what we cover or what we say.
- Sponsored content is clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial content.
- A paid directory listing never buys a “verified” or “licensed” label.
- Conflicts of interest are disclosed under our Disclosure Policy.
Use of technology
We may use software, including AI tools, to help research, summarise documents and draft. Published facts are checked against sources. Illustrations generated with AI are labelled as such and are never presented as photographs of real people, places or events.
Not advice
Our content is information, not legal, tax or investment advice.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and transparently. See our Corrections policy.
