The United Arab Emirates was Ghana’s single largest export destination in 2025, taking GH₵104 billion of goods, or 25.9% of total exports, according to Ghana Statistical Service trade data reported by Citi Newsroom.
Top export destinations, 2025
- United Arab Emirates: GH₵104 billion (25.9%)
- India: GH₵64.3 billion (16.0%)
- Switzerland: GH₵56.8 billion (14.2%)
Gold underpins all three. Switzerland has long been a leading destination for Ghanaian gold because of its refining industry; the UAE’s rise reflects Dubai’s role as a global gold trading and refining hub, and its links to Indian demand.
Why it matters
For Ghanaian exporters, buyers in the UAE now matter as much as traditional European refiners, and their responsible-sourcing rules increasingly shape what documentation Ghanaian gold must carry. See our explainer on the Ghana–UAE gold corridor.
