World gold jumped back above US$4,000 an ounce on Wednesday morning, up 2.2%, after the US midterm elections pushed the dollar lower. In Ghana, GoldBod’s latest official price is GH₵10,870 per pound (about US$940.31), set in the 3:00 PM window on Tuesday 3 November, GH₵14 below Monday’s weekly open. GoldBod’s next price, at 10:30 AM Ghana time today, is the first to reflect the jump. We will add it to this report as soon as it is published.

What moved gold
- Spot gold rose 2.2% to US$4,016.01 an ounce by 06:19 GMT on Wednesday, and US December futures rose 2.2% to US$4,026.90 (Reuters, via The Standard).
- The trigger was a weaker dollar after Democrats won key midterm races, together with a sharp fall in US Treasury yields. A softer dollar makes gold cheaper for buyers using other currencies.
- On Tuesday, before the results, gold had eased as the dollar and yields firmed (CNBC). The London afternoon benchmark that set Tuesday’s GoldBod price was US$3,936.65, down 0.47% from Monday.
What it means in Ghana
If London’s morning benchmark holds near US$4,016, GoldBod’s 10:30 AM price would come out around GH₵11,090 per pound at Tuesday’s exchange rate, about 2% above Tuesday’s close. This is our own calculation, not an official price: the actual figure depends on the LBMA morning price and the day’s Bank of Ghana reference rate.
What to watch
- GoldBod’s prices today at 10:30 AM (from the LBMA morning price) and 3:00 PM (from the afternoon price). These times run one hour later than usual until 27 March 2027 (why).
- Friday 6 November: the US jobs report. Markets put the chance of a US interest-rate rise in December at about 79% (CME FedWatch, via Reuters), which could limit gold’s gains.
- Next report: Weekly Close, Friday 6 November, after GoldBod’s 3:00 PM price.
