The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) aggregated and exported 85.4 tonnes of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold worth US$11.6 billion between 1 January and 20 October 2026, its chief executive Sammy Gyamfi told the Mining in Motion conference on 20 October.
The figures
- ASM exports, 1 Jan–20 Oct 2026: 85.4 tonnes, US$11.6 billion.
- Large-scale exports, same period: 76 tonnes, US$11.1 billion.
- ASM exports by year: 63 tonnes in 2024, about 104 tonnes in 2025, when ASM exports overtook large-scale exports for the first time.
- Foreign exchange from ASM in 2025: US$10.8 billion.
Mr Gyamfi said GoldBod was “on track” to surpass its 2025 outturn, and that foreign exchange inflows from the sector continue to support reserve build-up and currency stability.
